Kings Pro Clean- Roof Cleaning Hereford Specialists and Exterior Property Maintenance Service

Why should I get my roof cleaned?

Over time, moss grows and can build up. When moss is not managed appropriately, not only moss unsightly but it will also damage your roof tile. Without employing professional moss removal, excessive moss growth will cause premature degradation of your roof tiles and load extra weight onto your gutters, which can damage the structural integrity of your roof and result in costly roof and roof tile repairs.

In the UK and rural Herefordshire, it is not uncommon for moss coverage (in some cases, a carpet of moss!) to form on roof tiles in only a few years. A mossy roof creates a microclimate of dense, organic matter on your roof, making it the perfect environment for dirt, debris and algae growth to build up and become an attractive environment to little critters. As roof moss is a porous structure with some species having the ability to absorb 18-20% of its own weight, moss can have serious consequences for your roof tiles.

When you have moss build up, your roof is constantly wet. When this moisture goes through the freeze-thaw process, it can cause cracks and damage roof tiles. If left untreated, the moisture within the moss may travel through damaged tiles and begin to rot the wooden components of the roof, leading to leaks inside the house, which can lead to mould and damp.

We would always recommend Herefordshire homeowners employ a professional roof cleaning company like Kings Pro Clean for a moss removal roof cleaning service. What roof-cleaning and roof moss removal processes do you employ?

Roof cleaning Method one: Complete roof moss removal scrape and Biocide cleaning treatment application (non-pressure, dry process)

Our team will begin roof cleaning by using high-reach poles and scrapers to access and gently loosen and remove the roof moss, lichen and algae from the roof tiles. Biocide chemical soft wash is applied to the entire surface area to penetrate the roof tiles, stop germination of any remaining moss spores and inhibit moss regrowth. Our roof coating Biocide solution will work over time, lightening and cleaning the roof for up to 18 months, breaking down black biofilm materials, and reactivating each weather cycle to activate the cleaning process. This roof cleaning method is suitable for all tiled roofs and is a particularly low risk option for older and more delicate roofs.

Roof cleaning Method two: Steam clean with chemical preventative treatment application (low power steam process- not pressure washing)

Our low-pressure steam cleaning equipment effectively removes all moss, lichen, dirt and algae growth that has accumulated on your roof. Once the roof moss has been removed from the roof, we then complete the roof clean in the same way as method one by applying our soft wash chemical solution to ensure the roof continues to clean itself over the coming months. A steam clean may be your preferred option if you seek instant, noticeable results for the benefits of a sale or home survey.

As standard, with each roof clean job we do, and once we get the job completed we will clear out the gutters of roof moss and debris and remove all dirty moss waste from your property, completely free of charge.

We can provide eco friendly cleaning chemicals for customers upon request.

Should I get my roof cleaned on a regular basis?

We recommend that we revisit for a roof cleaning service and retreat the roof tiles every 4-5 years after you have had your roof cleaned. This will keep moss, algae and lichen at bay and dramatically enhance the appearance of your roof, adding to its kerb appeal.

What are the benefits of preparing for a roof clean?

In preparation for and following roof cleaning, we recommend that customers implement preventative measures and regular maintenance practices for further protection against lichen and moss growth on exterior surfaces and walls. Worcestershire roof cleaning customers may wish to consider high pressure cleaning at ground level such as patios and driveways, improving drainage by cleaning the gutters and trimming vegetation to increase uv light exposure, and inspect roof tiles following harsh weather. Managing exterior property tasks will ultimately keep you home in good repair, maintain its value and add to its kerb appeal.

How do you ensure accurate roof cleaning quotations?

Several elements must be considered when we provide Hereford roof cleaning quotes. These factors mean that cost will vary depending on our site visit. Our cost considerations include the type and age of the tile on your roof, any existing moss coverage and the appearance of moss damage, whether we will need access equipment and machinery such as cherry pickers for the job, our recommended method of roof cleaning and roof moss removal chemicals, and your preferences. To provide standard quotes based only on the square footage of a house or roof does us, and Herefordshire homeowners a disservice.

As we are a locally based roof cleaning company we always offer Herefordshire homeowners an in-person, free quotation and we can often do this at short notice since we are roof cleaning in Hereford each week and our quote team are out and about locally each day of the week.

If you are home when we visit for our site survey, we will keep you fully informed of our findings and recommendations. For Hereford homeowners who want us to provide a free quote but are not home, we can follow up on the same day to provide you with an email quote for our roof cleaning services.
