Why should I get my roof cleaned?
Over time, moss grows and can build up. When moss is not managed appropriately, it is not only unsightly but can also create long-term maintenance problems. In most cases, excessive moss coverage will cause premature degradation of your roof tiles and load extra weight onto your gutter systems, which can damage the structural integrity of your roof and result in costly roof repairs.
In the UK, it is not uncommon for moss coverage (in some cases, a carpet of moss!) to form on roofs in only a few years. Moss coverage creates a microclimate of dense, organic matter on your roof, and as moss is a porous structure with some species having the ability to absorb 18-20% of its own weight, it can have serious consequences for your roof tiles.
When you have moss coverage, your roof is constantly wet. When this moisture goes through the freeze-thaw process, it can cause cracks and damage roof tiles. If left untreated, the moisture may travel through damaged tiles and begin to rot the wooden components of the roof, leading to leaks, mould and damp inside your home.

What roof-cleaning processes do you employ?
Method one: Complete moss removal scrape and Biocide cleaning treatment application (non-pressure, dry process)
Our team will service your home using high-reach poles and scrapers to access and gently loosen and remove dry or wet moss from the roof tiles. Biocide chemical soft wash is applied to the entire surface area to penetrate the roof tiles, stop germination of any remaining spores and inhibit moss regrowth. Our Biocide solution will work over time, lightening and cleaning the roof for up to 18 months, breaking down black biofilm materials, and reactivating each weather cycle to activate the cleaning process.
Method two: Steam clean with chemical preventative treatment application (low power steam process)
Our low-pressure steam cleaning equipment effectively removes all moss, algae, lichen, dirt and bacteria that has accumulated on your roof. We then complete the roof clean in the same way as method one by applying our soft wash chemical solution to ensure the roof continues to clean itself over the coming months. A steam clean may be your preferred option if you seek instant, noticeable results.
As standard, with each roof clean we complete, we will clear out the gutters of roof moss and debris and remove all moss waste from your property, completely free of charge.

How frequently should you get your roof cleaned?
We recommend that we retreat the roof tiles every 4-5 years thereafter. This will dramatically enhance the appearance of your roof, adding to its curb appeal and adding value to your home.
What are the benefits of getting my roof cleaned regularly?
In preparation for and following roof cleaning, we recommend that customers implement preventative measures and regular maintenance practices for further protection against algae and moss growth on exterior surfaces. These measures may include improving drainage and trimming vegetation to increase sunlight exposure.
